The feather symbol represents freedom, honor, respect and protection. Wear a feather so like minded people know you are an ally for democracy, empathy, education, immigrants, people of color and the LGBTQ+ community.

HOW IT STARTED
Hi, my name is Karen Sheppard, and I am the sole person in charge of this website and I am a novice at this whole thing, so bear with me!
I was sitting around, feeling hopeless. My heart hurt for the people that are being affected by the current state of our democracy.
I saw that the elected officials, that should be standing up to the slashing of our rights, have felt content to sit on their hands. Where was their "fire in the belly" spirit that our founding fathers had? If they are afraid, where does a little citizen like me stand? That created a very deep lost feeling. Then I thought "damn it" this just isn't right
I thought, what about a symbol of some sort that represents "The People" and then it came to me, the mighty, QUILL!
The quill wrote out the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States!
Quills are pretty big, so, what about if everyone could wear a feather, a feather of ANY kind.
Kind of a signal to others that we stand for freedom, courage!
A signal to like-minded people that you are an ally for democracy, empathy, education, immigrants, health care for all, food security for all and equal rights for every single one of us.
So, I created this website. But then I just got overwhelmed again with the whole idea and how to get the word out. and it sort of languished. But, and here's the cool thing, I shared this idea with two friends who became very excited about the feather symbol and shared their ideas of what they could do. That happening is just what my idea was about, each person interpreting the feather in their own way, but bound together with a common thread of ideals.
I will show up for marches, fill my little library with feather stickers and pins and maybe this idea of mine will be a comfort to some.

When was the last time you read it? For me, probably 60 years. Shockingly it speaking about exactly what is going on right now!

The Revolutionary war went on for EIGHT YEARS before we were free of a king! 4/19/1775 thru 9/3/1783
What we are going through now will NOT be fixed in the next election, if there is one. It's going to be a rough ride, so hold on tight!
